Technological Design Rubric
Criteria 4 3 2 1
Propose a design solution or plan Proposes a design solution or plan based upon prior experience & the facts, concepts & principles of science Proposes a design solution based upon some of the prior experiences, uses most of the concepts & principles. Proposes a design solution that has some flaws. Design is only partially based upon prior experiences, concepts and principles. Proposes a design solution that is flawed. Little to no use of prior concepts and principles.
Implement design solution Carry out proposed design accurately following design solution. Show strong evidence that experiences have been taken into account. Carry out proposed design using most of the design solution. Shows some evidence that prior experiences were taken into account when building. Carry out proposed design with some flaws. There are few pieces of evidence to indicate that prior experiences were taken into account. Carry out design with significant flaws. Little to no resemblance to initial solution or plan. No evidence that prior experiences were taken into account.
Collect & record data on design effectiveness Use all appropriate strategies and instruments to collect data. Records data in an accurate & highly organized way. Uses mostly appropriate strategies & instruments to collect data. Almost all data is accurate & recorded in an organized way. Uses few appropriate strategies & instruments to collect data. There are some inaccuracies in data; data is not very organized. Uses inappropriate strategies & instruments to collect data. Little to no attempt to organize data.
Evaluate design Provides a complete evaluation of the design, supporting each component of the evaluation with evidence as well as scientific principles. Provides an almost complete evaluation of the design, supporting most components of the evaluation with evidence. Some use of scientific principles is evident. Evaluation is missing some key components. Only some of the evaluation is supported by evidence & scientific principles. Evaluation is flawed. Little to none of the evaluation is supported by evidence & scientific principles.
Revises initial design plan Provides a revision of design plan that is carefully connected to all components of the evaluation. Provides a revision of design plan that is only connected to some of the evaluation components. Provides a revision of the design plan with few references to the evaluation components. Provides a revision of the design plan with no reference to evaluation components.
